Our Curriculum
As part of our broad and balanced curriculum, St. Vincent's actively promotes the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance to prepare our pupils for, and develop an awareness of, life in modern Britain.
At St. Vincent’s, we introduce children to phonics, reading and writing through the Read-Write-inc programme. As their skills develop, the children are introduced to a range of exciting, effective and enjoyable themes to advance their skill, knowledge and understanding.
In maths, the children employ a range of techniques and strategies that strengthen and secure confidence in mathematics. Each class has a comprehensive pack of hands-on equipment (numicon, fraction tiles, percentage boxes etc) to embed understanding and advance progress.
Our highly skilled and experienced Intervention Team run a number of catch-up-and-keep-up sessions to address gaps in pupils' knowledge and understanding. The team is trained in a range of programmes proven to aid learning e.g. Reciprocal Reading, Talk Boost, 1st Class at Number etc.
